For more than 20 years John Kelly has championed the cause of reimagining medical devices to enhance their usability and performance.
Before founding Atomo Diagnostics in 2010, John was Chief Operating Officer at ASX listed (now NASDAQ listed) Unilife Corporation, where he led the ‘Unifill’ development team to develop the world’s first glass prefilled drug delivery device with integrated auto retract safety feature. This technology was successfully licensed to Sanofi Aventis. Previously, John led the New Product Implementation Group at ResMed, where he managed the design and commercialisation of the ground-breaking Mirage Swift mask.
In addition to his commercial experience, John has an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Liverpool, a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, and an Executive MBA from the University of Sydney, where he was awarded the Business School’s inaugural ‘Excellence in Leadership’ scholarship.
Managing Director with BNP Paribas in Australia, John Keith has significant experience of having served on the Boards of private companies, including start-ups, in Australia and Asia.
Founder and Director of IDE Group, Atomo’s technical partner, George Sidis has significant experience in R&D and, having previously worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, financing, business planning, and start-up strategies for new ventures.
Managing Partner at the Global Health Investment Fund, Curt LaBelle was previously a Managing Director at Tullis Health Investors, and a Vice President at Investor Growth Capital. Curt holds a BS in Economics from Brigham Young University, and both MD and MBA degrees from Columbia University.
Doris-Ann Williams MBE
Chief Executive of the British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA), Doris-Ann Williams MBE has worked in the IVD sector for more than 30 years, initially in R&D and subsequently in commercial roles in the UK and internationally.
A long-time senior advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, providing advice on global health R&D advocacy strategies, Anna is a seasoned global health advocacy professional with more than 25 years’ experience in public affairs and communications. As well as chairing Atomo’s Clinical Advisory Board, Anna manages the company’s global health programmes and partnerships to ensure maximum impact.
Prof. Linda-Gail Bekker – MBChB, DTMH, DCH, FCP(SA), PhD
Deputy Director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM), University of Cape Town, and Chief Operating Officer of the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation, Professor Bekker is a former president of the International AIDS Society.
